Patrick wins Crawley Community Achievement Award!
The Youth Centre is a charity run organisation put in place to benefit the Crawley community.
Patrick originally joined the organisation as a member of Crawley Boys Club, as it was previously named, in 1972 and in 1981 became a member of the voluntary team. In the early 90s the name was changed to Crawley Youth Centre. Over the years he has had thousands of members coming through our doors.
The club members are multicultural, and consist of many different nationalities and all attendees are always made to feel welcome. Patrick explains it is a great feeling when a member who attended the club as a child stops him in the street as an adult and says: “Pat if it was not for you I would have ended up in some sort of crime and a lot of trouble”.
It was a great honour for Pat to attend the awards evening at The Hawth Theatre as a nominee and to be awarded the Crawley Community Achievement Shield. Pat had no idea that as well as being nominated he would be selected amongst 500 nominees in the town. The event was well attended and included local sponsors Metro Bus, Gatwick Airport, The Crawley Observer and Crawley Borough Council.
Well Done and many Congratulations Pat…you’re an inspiration !
